One of the major themes of the end of the warm dry cycle we’re leaving is authoritarianism. Dr. Raymond Wheeler identified it in his work coupling climate and social mood.
It strikes me that the current Apple Iphone controversy is a great example of the clash between authoritarianism on the one hand and freedom on the other. Tim Cook (CEO at Apple) laid out his views in a letter to employees on the weekend.
I think we’re going to see much more of these events, exacerbated by the financial melt-down and rising tensions.
The trends for the colder/dryer period we’re entering are:
- Anarchism
- Depression
- Collapse of individualistic economy (socialism)
- Period of inadequate government
- Trend towards anarchy and chaos
- Civil wars rather than international wars
- Mass migration
- Pandemics
